Today was quite interesting during second period. While I was working on my Career and Technical Education senior slide show, I picked up the camera in the Instructional technology office so I could take a few pictures. I walked downstairs towards the foods hallway where I reached a set of closed doors. Now usually these door are always open, occasionally closed due to some idiot pulling on them, but as i walked through the doors to the foods hallway when a police office with a metal wand detector starts yelling at me. " GO AROUND THE OTHER HALLWAY!" Fearfully, I turned around readying myself to take the other hallway when I realized, I needed to get into the classrooms of that hallway.
I hesitantly turned back around and opened my mouth. " uhm....i need to get into those classrooms." He let me into the hallway when I was met by three dean's assistants, the school's police liason, and another officer. I walked towards the classrooms watching them out of the corner of my eye, seeing them scan students with the wand and searching for illegal items. Thats when I realized why they had to close those hallway doors. They expect our school to be so bad that we would try to outrun three dean's assistants and two cops. It was unspoken why the doors were closed. Just common sense due to the history and reputation of our school.
I quickly walked into Mrs. Gaa's work program class to take a few pictures. I stayed in her room for five minutes afraid that one of the officers would grabs me and search me as well. My phone was on, which is punishable by a detention. So I quickly walked out of the classroom and walked into the food's class next door. I took pictures of some of the seniors cooking some eggs, hash browns, and bacon. Then i quickly walked out of that hallway, walking all the way around towards my accounting class.
Our school seems to be put down by these random searches. We are put off as a 'ghetto school.' But in reality the only ghetto thing about this school is the lame pranks these kids try to pull. Thanks to some students from South Elgin HIgh School for setting off some M-80 firecrackers, OUR school is being searched occasionally. Like we would do something so childish as that. We really don't have anything to hide. Well, except for our cell phones turned on in class, texting and texting when the teacher "isn't looking."
